I don’t want to talk about it, I don’t want to think about it, I just want to forget about it. I wanted to paint soft colours, but I wanted also to show that something was there she doesn't want to be there, which is where the red comes in, that’s a scar from her past, a scar of her pain her suffering her hunt, the past she’s desperately trying to get away from, which is why she’s looking away. Apart from that red she is happy, contented, hence the soft colours portraying her soft comfortable life but that red scar is never going to go away, it will always be with her reminding her of that part of her life she wants to get away from.
My ladies tell a story, if they have a face and sometimes they do and sometimes they do not, you will see something in their eyes, my ladies have something of the night about them, something in their past, they are ladies with no nationalities or boundaries, but always strong and in control and always beautiful.
My art tells stories not always happy and joyful, not always bright and full of light, sometime dark and brooding, but always bright, vivid and interesting, catching your attention and full of my feelings.
I get a lot of my inspiration from three artist Claude Monet with his use of colour his expressiveness, detail and the softness of his beautiful paintings, Vincent van Gogh with his bold use of colour his expressiveness, and I like to think I’m a little impulsive like him, and Lowry unbelievable he produced the work he did just using five colours.
I always try to put something of myself in my paintings, in the form the colours the brush stokes, my feelings, my joy, sometimes my darkness but I hope mostly joy and happiness.
My art is me, my paintings, wherever they go in the world, a part of me goes with them and I hope that comes out in my work and you also feel it.
All my paintings are on good quality canvases with as many coats of gesso as needed and the finest oils, I paint mainly with brushes but also use a palette knife a lot also my fingers when needed.
Thank you for visiting my gallery and I really hope you will find something that you will enjoy for a long time to come.
