When I sit at my easel with a blank canvas, I’m in my world I’m in control, I know what I’m going to paint. I want my paintings to have character to tell a story but without words as if using mime, to be dramatic, emotional, sometimes theatrical but always with feelings and always special.
This large oil painting very thickly painted mostly with a palette knife of the conspirators two gangs doing a deal in a smokey back room but it’s not going well, and there are tensions none of them wants to give way. The guy in the far left is a bodyguard standing back but ready to jump in to protect his boss, and you can see him slipping something into the bosses hand who is also sliding a note across to his rival.
You can feel the tense smokey atmosphere the big boss is the guy on the far right with the menacing eyes but giving nothing away, his partner in deep thought looking sideways at the boss for direction and trying to read the signs.
You can see the menace in their eyes feel the tension the smoky atmosphere and unless they strike a deal it’s all going to blow up.
